SSB-University College is a Cambridge University International Examinations Fellowship Centre. Cambridge International Fellowship status is awarded to centres that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to CIE. SSB Pre-University College (ZA013) was awarded this status in 2003.

The College provides a tried and tested, world class, high quality curriculum which is international and promotes educational excellence. The University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) qualification is a ‘gold standard’ qualification which has international recognition and provides a foundation for success in further studies. For over 50 years, the CIE A level qualification has been accepted as proof of academic ability for entry to Universities and institutes of higher education.

The College is staffed by lecturers who are all experts in their fields with outstanding qualifications and experience. Many of them also lecture at universities.

One of the problems facing South Africa is the serious skills shortage. Many students who enter tertiary institutions are unable to cope with the rigours of academic studies. This is particularly evident in the Sciences, Engineering and Mathematics. The problem manifests itself in the high first year University failure rate particularly in the Sciences.

The Pre-University programme is at the leading edge of international educational trends. Students may enter the IGCSE program from 15 years of age. We also offer an accelerated A Level programme which is an ideal Post Matric option and prepares students for tertiary studies. Young people are provided with essential Mathematical, Science and Business skills.

Cambridge A Level qualifications are recognised world wide and the international examinations are offered in over 150 countries. Students are able to continue with their studies uninterrupted when relocating to other countries. Our international student body presently represents students from 10 countries. The College has offered this curriculum to students from over 18 different countries, speaking 22 different mother tongue languages.

The College has a strict dress code. The happy relaxed atmosphere encourages academic excellence.

For International students who are studying away from home and require accommodation, upmarket off campus boarding facilities allow students to grow and develop in a wonderful, safe, structured environment.
