Sidwell MashileI am a 16 year old who strives to achieve excellence in everything I do. Born on September 26, 1992 in Johannesburg, South Africa, I am the third of four children and the only son in my family. I live with my father, my mother and younger sister in Soweto located outside of Johannesburg.

Coming from a disadvantaged community which does not see the importance of a proper education could be said to be the inspiration I needed to do well at school. Though this inspiration I was able to get a Love Life Debate Award, a bronze medal at the provincial ESKOM Science EXPO for young scientists in Johannesburg and recently being selected to serve as a Page at the office of the United States senator of Mississippi in USA amongst other achievements.

It was through my previous school that I was introduced to organizations such as the Douglas foundation, Make a Difference foundation (MAD), Operation Smile and the Anthony Robbins foundation. Organizations that would in the near future, give me the opportunity to study at the Piney Woods School in United States of America for two years. An opportunity that would catapult me into becoming an ambassador not for my family, but for my country South Africa as well.

My dream is to become an economist. This will enable me to not only use my knowledge to help my country combat any economic problems it may have, but also to help build one of the most financially powerful countries in Africa. By doing so I will not only be helping to empower the youth of South Africa but I will be echoing the call for South Africans to be proud of  living in a society which has been blessed with such cultural diversity.
